You Have To Be In Somebody's Shoes

Shoes

You have to be a teacher,

To open the eyes of those who can't see,

You have to teach the evils of corruption,

You have to be a doctor,

You have to cure malads of the roots,

To save the poor.

You have to go to bed without food,

You have to sleep under the leaking roof,

To see the tears of the rain.

You have to work under the scorching sun rays,

To see how precious is farming.

Poverty words are noise,

To your ears.

You have to wear rags,

To feel the chilling cold,

Deep into your bones.

You have to walk bear feet,

Take your eyes off your shoes,

Take a plunge into the potholes,

Feel how rough is the footpath,

How rough is the road.

Step in someone's shoes,

If you have to dream,

Experiencing glittering hope,

In the eyes of the nation.
